My name is Désirée Grendel

I founded Nordic Translations – a translation agency specialising in Scandinavian languages – in 2013.

Dutch is my native language, and I was introduced to Swedish and other Scandinavian languages at an early age. I hold both Dutch and Swedish citizenship and have been living in Sweden since 2000.

Languages and cultures have always fascinated me. During my school years, I developed a broad knowledge of languages and a strong interest in international communication.

I studied Law at Utrecht University (Netherlands) and the French-speaking Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), specialising in international law. I have also completed various language and translation courses.

After my studies, I worked in legal roles in both the public and private sectors in the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden – mainly in the pharmaceutical and automotive industries. I have also lectured at universities and colleges in both Sweden and the Netherlands.

These experiences have given me a strong command of legal, official and medical terminology in Dutch and Scandinavian languages, as well as a deep understanding of the cultures and professional environments of these countries.

Since founding Nordic Translations, I have worked primarily as a professional translator. At the same time, I have remained active in the legal field, allowing me to continue combining my linguistic expertise with my legal background and international experience.
