My name is Désirée Grendel

I founded Nordic Translations – a translation agency specialising in Scandinavian languages – in 2013.

Dutch is my native language, and I was introduced to Swedish and other Scandinavian languages at an early age. I hold both Dutch and Swedish citizenship and have been living in Sweden since 2000.

Languages and cultures have always fascinated me. At secondary school, I studied French, English, German, Ancient Greek and Latin – a combination that laid the foundation for my linguistic insight and my broad interest in communication and culture.

I studied Law at Utrecht University (Netherlands) and the French-speaking Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), specialising in international law. I have also completed various language and translation courses.

After my studies, I worked as a lawyer in both the public and private sectors in the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden – mainly in the pharmaceutical and automotive industries. I have also lectured at universities and colleges in both Sweden and the Netherlands.

These experiences have given me a strong command of legal, official and medical terminology in both Dutch and the Scandinavian languages, as well as a deep understanding of the cultures of these countries.

Since 2013, I have been working full-time as a professional translator, combining my linguistic and legal expertise with my passion for communication and cultural understanding.
